Which Charger Is Right for Me?

To choose the right Voltobil charger, you only need to check three things: your power connection, the phase type and your vehicle's AC charging capacity.

1. Which power connection do you have?

2. What is your vehicle's AC charging capacity?

A vehicle never charges above its own maximum AC charging capacity. For example, a vehicle with a 7 kW AC charging capacity charges at no more than 7 kW even when connected to a 22 kW charger. You can find your vehicle's AC charging capacity in its user manual or technical specifications.

3. Does your vehicle have a Type 2 charging inlet?

Voltobil chargers and charging cables are used with electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles that have a Type 2 charging inlet.

When do you need a charging cable or a converter?

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable (22 kW): Used to connect your vehicle to a charging station or wall-mounted charging unit with a Type 2 socket. It is not a standalone charger.
  • Charging converters (7 / 11 / 22 kW): Help a compatible Voltobil portable charger be used with different electrical connection points. On a standard household socket, the charging current must not exceed 16 A.

Safety note: Before use, have a qualified electrician check that the socket, circuit, fuse and earthing can carry the selected current continuously. Do not use extension cables or multi-socket adapters. For details, see the User and Safety Manual.
